The Mikumi National Park is one of the less known parks in Tanzania but it is with 3230km² the fourth biggest park of the country and is worth to pay a visit during a safari in the south. Remarkable is the big Highway between Dar es Salaam and Iringa which divides the park in two parts. The Mikumi is also called the ‘little Serengeti’ in the south which is caused by the wide Mkata plains - the heart of the national park. The big amount of wildlife and the great nature you don’t have to share with many other tourists. Also impressive are the water pools which are shared by hippos and many different birds.
